HOW WE CAN HELP:

Crime victimization is a frightening and unsettling experience, with Victim Services by your side we get you on the right path in receiving a large number of services and resources designed to help victims obtain justice and healing. Our trained staff and volunteers will treat you with courtesy, compassion, dignity and respect while offering our services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Crisis Intervention

In a crisis victimization case our unit provides early practical support and crisis intervention both on-scene and over the phone to help establish your physical and emotional safety while referring you to community and government services to match your needs.

Crisis intervention cases can include but not limited to:

  • Criminal Harassment
  • Domestic Violence
  • Elder Abuse
  • Fire
  • Hate Crimes
  • Homicide
  • Human Trafficking
  • Industrial Accidents
  • Motor Vehicle Accidents
  • Robbery and Property Crimes

Victim Services Programs & Documentation

The Victim Services Unit assists and provides victims with documentation and information for court and finances.

Victim Services Court Support Program

The Victim Court Support Program works closely with Crown counsel, justice personnel, and other victim service providers to ensure victims, witnesses and their families are provided with the information and support they need to obtain justice.

Here is what the program includes:

  • Case worker to accompany victim & witnesses to court and crown counsel interviews
  • Connect victims & witnesses with programs and resources at the courthouse
  • Support for victims, witnesses and their families with updates, emotional assistance and information of their case
  • General information about the criminal justice system

Is there a cost for your service?

No There is no cost to victims or witnesses for any of our services or programs

What help is available to me as a victim of crime?

Victim Support Services provides a 24 hour crisis hotline, advocacy services, courtroom support, medical advocacy, information, and referrals.

Do you offer counselling services?

We do not offer counselling services, however, our Volunteer Advocates help grieving survivors of sudden fatalities cope until family & friends can offer support as well as offer professional counselling referrals to our clients.

I have not reported the crime to the police, can you still help me?

Yes we can, there is no requirement that you must report to police to obtain our services.
