WHO WE ARE

The Cold Lake Victim Services Unit

is comprised of highly trained staff and volunteers that provide the community with immediate telephone
and on-scene intervention, emotional support, community referrals and limited financial assistance to
victims of crime and tragedy throughout the Lakeland Region.

OUR MISSION:

Our mission is to provide all victims of crime or tragedy with a high level of skilled and compassionate services including Support, Information, and Referrals through our dedicated and trained staff and volunteers as well as by working in partnership with the Cold Lake RCMP Detachment.

GOVERNMENT OF
ALBERTA JUSTICE & SOLICITOR GENERAL

Government of Alberta Justice & Solicitor General Provides:
  • A financial benefits program to recognize victimization as a result of a violent crime in Alberta
  • Grants program for police-based and community based organizations that offer support & services to victims of crime
  • Grants relating to programs that provide counselling to children that are victims of sexual exploitation or other criminal offences causing physical or mental harm

RCMP

  • The Cold Lake RCMP Detachment works with the Victim Services Unit to support and promote the organization services and mission to the community.

UNIT BOARD

  • The board is made up of individuals acting together as a whole to determine and communicate the purpose and scope of the Cold Lake Victim Services Unit.

OUR GOALS

  • Decrease the immediate impact of a crime on a victim.
  • Help victims cope with the effects of crime.
  • Focus on preventing further victimization.
  • Promote a positive liaison between Police, Court System, & the Victim.
  • Provide ongoing public awareness.
  • Provide well trained volunteers to ensure confidentiality.
